The Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) test measures the level of LDH, an enzyme found in many tissues throughout the body. LDH plays a role in energy production by converting lactate to pyruvate. This test is used to evaluate tissue damage, diagnose and monitor conditions such as anemia, liver disease, and certain cancers.
