CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel)

The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) is a blood test that evaluates a range of metabolic parameters, including glucose levels, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney and liver function, and protein levels. It provides a broad overview of metabolic and organ health, helping to identify and monitor conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, and liver disorders. Measures a variety of metabolic markers, including glucose, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate), kidney function (creatinine, blood urea nitrogen), liver function (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin, total protein, albumin), and calcium. This panel helps assess overall metabolic and organ health.

The CMP analyzes a wide range of conditions related to metabolic and organ health. It helps diagnose and monitor diseases such as diabetes (via glucose levels), kidney disease (via creatinine and blood urea nitrogen), and liver disorders (via liver enzymes and bilirubin). Additionally, it assesses electrolyte and fluid balance, which can be affected by various conditions, including dehydration and metabolic imbalances. By providing a comprehensive overview of metabolic function, the CMP aids in evaluating overall health and guiding treatment decisions.

February 2026

Dear valued client,

As we move toward completing the transition of Empire City Laboratories’ clinical laboratory services to Labcorp, we want your practice to experience a smooth and seamless changeover. We appreciate your partnership and want to highlight several important operational reminders as we approach the transition to Labcorp on February 9.
Key Transition Reminders
  1. Last Day to Submit Orders to Empire City Laboratories – February 8
Empire City Laboratories will continue processing orders through the end of the day on February 8, 2026. Please ensure that all Empire orders arrive at Empire’s facility by this date.
  2. Beginning February 9: Submit Orders to Labcorp
Starting February 9, 2026, all new laboratory orders should be submitted directly to Labcorp using any of the following methods:
    • EMR interface to Labcorp
    • Labcorp Link
    • A Labcorp paper requisition
  3. Specimen Collection & Pick up
Effective February 9, please place all specimens in your Labcorp specimen collection box.
Over the coming weeks, we plan to deliver Labcorp boxes and remove Empire City Laboratories boxes or to relabel them as Labcorp. After a Labcorp box is in place (new or relabeled), placing a specimen in a remaining Empire City Laboratories box may cause delays in specimen processing.
  4. Historical Results
Beginning February 9, you may continue to utilize the Wellcom portal for a period of time by accessing it directly at new.wellcom.us
If you have any questions during or after the transition, please contact your Labcorp service representative or Labcorp Customer Service at 800 631 5250. When calling, please remember to have your Labcorp account number readily available to help expedite your support.

We  appreciate your attention to these operational updates and your partnership throughout this process. Our shared commitment remains the same: providing accurate, timely, and high quality laboratory services to you and your patients. Thank you for your continued trust.

Sincerely,

Empire City Laboratories & Labcorp
