Our Hepatitis Panel provides comprehensive testing for hepatitis A, B, and C viruses, aiding in the diagnosis and management of viral hepatitis infections. This panel includes tests for Hepatitis A Total Antibody with reflex to IgM, Hepatitis B Core Total Antibody with reflex to IgM, Hepatitis B Surface Total Antibody, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Screen, and Hepatitis C Total Antibody. Detects total antibodies to Hepatitis A virus, with reflex testing for IgM antibodies if positive. Detects total antibodies to Hepatitis B core antigen, with reflex testing for IgM antibodies if positive. Measures antibodies to Hepatitis B surface antigen, indicating immunity or past infection. Screens for the presence of Hepatitis B surface antigen, indicating current infection. Detects antibodies to Hepatitis C virus, indicating past or current infection.

About the Test
  • Hepatitis A Total AB w/ref to IGM
  • Hepatitis B Core Total AB w/ref IGM
  • Hepatitis B Surface Total AB
  • Hepatitis B Surface AG Screen
  • Hepatitis C Total AB

The Hepatitis Panel analyzes conditions and symptoms associated with Hepatitis A, B, and C infections. These include general symptoms of hepatitis such as:

  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
  • Fatigue
  • Abdominal pain or discomfort
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dark urine
  • Pale stool
  • Joint pain

Specifically, for Hepatitis A, the panel detects acute hepatitis symptoms like fever, malaise, anorexia, and jaundice, often following exposure through contaminated food or water or recent travel to areas with high rates of Hepatitis A.

For Hepatitis B, the panel evaluates acute or chronic liver disease, symptoms of active infection, and includes screening in pregnant women to prevent transmission to the baby, monitoring the status of chronic carriers, and assessing immunity after vaccination or previous infection.

The Hepatitis C test is aimed at identifying chronic liver disease, elevated liver enzymes, and risk factors such as intravenous drug use or blood transfusions before 1992, as well as symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, and jaundice.

These tests are essential for diagnosing acute and chronic hepatitis infections, monitoring disease progression, and evaluating the effectiveness of vaccination or treatment.
